Wedding Craze

Hint: I like these bands
This may be an awkward post to share but oh well, here we are. I've always been a little bit crazy when it's come to weddings and planning weddings and hearing about them and just everything. I love everything about them. So I believe that lately I have gone into wedding fever.

I blame this to the fact that I am one of the youngest people at my work right now and a few are just newly married, engaged about to be married, waiting for that ring or just moving in with their significant other. And I never ever wanted to sound like one of those annoying girls who can't stop thinking about their wedding....but I am one of those girls, hopefully not as crazy and self-absorbed though.

Is this normal?! And by that I mean do other normal people feel this way?...I'm almost nervous to hear the answers.

I love Running!

So I went for about a two week streak of NOT running after I started work cause I was so exhausted from being used to doing absolutely nothing at all. So this past week I just got back into and I feel AMAZING. I'm on a two day streak of vegetarianism and three days for the running. It sounds pretty lack luster to probably most people but I'm sure that even more people would agree that it takes a lot just to get back into the groove of something so healthy and sometimes crazy.

Today I was feeling so awesome that I was literally dancing on the treadmill, which took a lot of energy out me but that's alright, I felt like I was on top of the world. And this is exactly what I looked like except a lot faster and probably more chaotic:

Hockey Player Crush of the Day: Tim Thomas

blue banner

Tim Thomas
Boston Bruins

Awwww look at that little smile! Okay, okay so I don't think he's the MOST good looking player out there but I mean come on, he's magical. And it's not just cause he just won the Stanley Cup, although he was pretty much the most important factor, it's because he's just amazing. I have no idea how he does what he does but he makes blocking ridiculous shots at all angles, distances and speeds look like he's sitting down to eat some porridge for breakfast. Just pure craziness. This man has got to be one of the best goalies to come around for awhile. And HOPEFULLY this will be the last time you hear me speaking so highly of the Bruins.

Side note: Is it just me or does running always cause you to feel bloated after? I MUST know!

I'm Old

Today I was driving furiously to pick up Ryan from his work when I quickly realized that there were a line of four Sebrings all driving in a row. There were two in front of me and one behind. And as I pulled into the right lane I saw that every single driver of those Sebrings was over the age of 65.  Not impressed...but I am definitely not surprised.

Me in my awesome car.

Happy Father's Day!

I just needed to say Happy Father's Day to my dad one more time today! We had a great manly manly day watching baseball and hockey while eating chips and dip, chicken wings and nachos! My mom managed to find him the most PERFECT gift ever made for any person. My dad has always really been into origami, paper cranes to be exact. If he has a spare piece of paper on him and a little kid near by, his hands are furiously making one of these things! Last year when I was in residence I was going through not the best of times in life and my dad came up to visit. After he left I found a little paper crane hanging in my room and it just lifted my spirits every time I looked at it. So this is what we found him!

A paper crane piggy bank! Perfect for an origami money loving man!

The piggy bank and my paper crane tattoo I got in honour of my dad a few months ago (it was quite awkward to get a photo of the two together!)

I feel like I am making great progress with camp related things! Camp already starts in two weeks and I can literally NOT WAIT! Some special theme days this year include Wacky Hair Day, Pirate Day and Superhero Day (which I'm pumped for).

What are some special camp theme days that come to mind for you?! Do you remember any awesome ones from when you were a kid? Let me know!

Treadmill Love

After accomplishing #3 on my list of things to do this summer, I have accomplished two runs on the treadmill. Before this I was sick and whiny and did not run for a week or so and before that I went for three runs in the great outdoors. If you know me at all, even the fact that I'm a ginger, you will understand that I HATE being outside, day or night. The only exception really to this rule was when I played soccer. But I was still forced to lather myself up with sun screen so poop.

But my treadmill runs have been fabulous. I can't remember running for so long so easily and wanting to run more and more and more. It feels great. The one thing that feels the opposite of great is my left I.T. band. When I was in grade 10 I tweaked it and had to go to physio for a few months. Things were alright for awhile than just last summer I sprained my ankle pretty bad and was in a cast for a few weeks. After not really caring too much for the injury I fear that the lack of strength in general and because of the incident last year, my I.T. band is being a bit of a bitch yet again. But I still have managed to get at least 20 minutes of running in.

I have started to document my runs (by runs I mean the one I did tonight) on dailymile so that the runs, speed and duration will actually mean something in the long run. More because I want a reason to physically document what I have done. Feel free to stalk me there if you so wish.

Summer Vegetarian Round 2

So about three weeks ago I wrote about how I really was keen on becoming a veg head again this summer. So for the past two days everything was going grand and my first two days of vegetarianism were going splendidly. But then today just was out of control. A group at work was having a potluck lunch and of course I attended even though I had literally no need to do so, especially with my salad in my lunch bag. So there was nacho dip with meat in it. OUCH. Then I had to go out with Ryan tonight to watch the Stanley Cup final (UGH BOSTON, gross). We eventually headed to Boston Pizza where you can really only order pizza (which all have meat) or hamburgers. So we got a pizza with sausage on it....and here I am back to square one.

All I'm asking is for some tips! How did you get yourself on track to being a vegetarian? What tips and tricks did you use? I need some advice!

MY Motherhood Monday

I know a lot of people across the blogosphere participate in their respective "Motherhood Monday" features and I just wanted to shed some light on my own from today.

Today I was my boyfriend's mother. Ryan and I woke up today and without saying a word we were doing our respective jobs before the day started. He went straight to the shower and I to the kitchen. As he was getting all fancy for work, I was making his lunch downstairs. I packed a lovely lunch of a ham and cheese sandwich, chips and salsa, pasta salad and a cinnabon granola bar. He also was so lucky to get an awesome water bottle and espresso in a thermos for the morning ride.

In all motherhood-ness, I insisted we leave SUPER early for his first day of work this summer so we ended up being half an hour early. And when it was time for him to finally leave I looked around and it seemed that people getting out their cars around us already knew each other so I leaned out the passenger side of the car and said "Make new friends! Have a great first day" partly for a joke partly cause my motherly senses were tingling today.

When I got back home on my glorious day off, I decided I was going to make cupcakes. Now this was my first experience baking period. So clearly I was in Motherload Land today. But even more than just cupcakes I needed to be original and exciting so I made vanilla cupcakes with mocha icing. I really struggled with the icing of the cupcakes so I had to eventually just use a knife and spread it around but I think they turned out alright.

After the cupcake making I took a shower, laid down for a few minutes, caught up with my former boss and headed back to pick the boy up from work where I was greeted with a "Hey Mom!" from Ryan. So funny. Yet so true. And that was the end of my day as a Mom.

Tonight I NEEDED sushi at 9:00pm and I was struggling to find a good sushi place here in London so I settled on a place my mom went a few weeks ago. I showed up and ordered my food.

I got:
  • California Roll
  • Spicy Tuna Roll
  • Cucumber & Avocado Roll

What I'm wondering is what is your favourite sushi roll? What do you usually order when you're craving sushi?

What Work Does to Me

I'm full swing in work now and it's just great. Constant fun in every corner and all the things I love like working on the computer, eating, playing camp games and laughing every second at all the hilarious and awesome people. The only problem is the minute I walk in the door at home I am DEAD tired. I literally fall on the couch and contemplate sleeping the evening and waking up early just to get a head start on MORE camp stuff. It's a vicious cycle.

What else has work done to me? Well it has made me more hilarious if I do say so myself. See you have to be quick in the camp world, ready for anything thrown at you rather it be from staff or kids, you always need a fast response. And further it has caused me to retire on the running for the most part and get all gross again. Hopefully once this work routine has set in I'll be able to fit in more runs at night. The problem is the evenings are the times when I see my friends so it's hard to get everything I want to do in! Oh the pains of having an awesome job.

In other news, I will be spending this upcoming Sunday in Toronto at the Jays vs. Red Sox game where I will dawn my Montreal Canadiens shirt in all its glory to whatever Boston fans are present. I don't care how crazy and weird the playoffs have been this year, but Boston will always suck.

Hockey Player Crush of the Day: Ron Hainsey

blue banner

Ron Hainsey
Atlanta Thrashers (Manitoba Moose?!...)

In honour of Canada's brand new seventh NHL team, today I am picking a player from Atlanta. Ron Hainsey was actually first drafted to Montreal (wahoooo!) in the first round in 2000. Lovin' his flow and his dark looks. Good luck in Canada!

Why my Mac is bothering me

So now that I am working full time, I've been using my computer a fair amount again and actually for work. It's pretty much being used literally 24/7 unless I am in my car. Or the bathroom...well actually that's a lie. But the only thing that my wonderful Mac doesn't have is great word art in Microsoft Word. It's so frustrating because I literally need it constantly for my job right now. If anyone knows a solution for this that would be AMAZING right about now. I'm literally crying over it....that's another lie my mascara is just bothering me now.

Word Art as it should could use an update but this looks like god right about now
